Return to Performance & Future Proof Your Body

Sports Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation

We are passionate about helping clients return to performance, whether that be in sporting pursuits, or simply functioning to the best of your ability in daily life.

Using industry-leading technology and proven rehab systems, our progressive physiotherapy approach helps achieve great outcomes for our clients.

Sports Physiotherapy

Sports Physiotherapy is based on combining sports medicine principles for accurate diagnosis and strength and conditioning orientated rehabilitation.

Sport places huge physical demands on the body and unfortunately, injuries are prevalent. We pride ourselves on understanding these demands and providing you with objective, data-driven feedback to guide your rehabilitation.

We have invested into industry leading technology that has previously only been available in the world of professional sports, as we believe everyone should have access to the same level of care.

A typical consult will involve a detailed assessment and a combination of hands-on techniques (soft-tissue or joint mobilisation) to address muscle and joint restriction and exercise prescription to optimise your strength and movement competency.

What we love to rehab at P3:
  • ACL rehabilitation.
  • Athletic hip and groin pain.
  • Abdominal/inguinal injuries.
  • Lumbo-pelvic pain.
  • Acute muscle injuries (hamstrings, quadriceps, groin and calf).
  • Lower limb tendinopathies (Gluteal, Hamstring, Patellar and Achilles).
  • Bone stress injuries.
  • Adolescent sporting injuries.
  • Acute and chronic knee injuries (Meniscal and Ligamentous injuries and Patellofemoral pain).
  • Acute and chronic ankle injuries.
  • Shoulder instability and tendinopathies.

General Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy services involve detailed musculoskeletal assessments to diagnose your injury and a combination of hands-on techniques and exercise prescription to restore range of motion, strength, and control.

We utilise innovative technologies to help determine muscle imbalances that contribute to your injury which is then used to develop a tailored rehabilitation program.

We use various treatment modalities to help restore you to a pain-free state including:

  • Soft tissue therapies
  • Joint mobilisation/manipulation
  • Dry needling
Conditions we love to treat at P3:
    • Acute and chronic lower back, thoracic and neck pain (including headaches).
    • Shoulder tendinopathies and instability.
    • Hip pain (Femoroacetabular impingement, Dysplasia, Labral tears and Osteoarthritis).
    • Knee pain (Patellofemoral pain, Tendinopathies, Osteoarthritis).
    • Foot and ankle pain (Sprains, Tendinopathies, Osteoarthritis).
    • Tendinopathies.

    Technology

    Force Plates

We utilise Force Plates for biomechanical feedback to collect and track meaningful metrics to help guide and build your rehabilitation programs.

    Dynomometry

Fixed Frame Dynomometry is used to accurately profile muscle imbalances (Right-Left and against normative data – i.e., testing norms for your age, sex, and sport) to provide an understanding of modifiable injury risk factors and to help build out your rehabilitation program.

    Blood Flow Restriction

BFR is an exercise modality that utilises a cuff to occlude blood flow to the arm or leg. A growing body of evidence supports the use of BFR in combination with low-load resistance training to mitigate disuse of muscle and accelerate strength responses compared to high load training.

    Compex

Compex is another training modality that utilises safe electrical muscle stimulation to maximise muscular effort by engaging a greater percentage of muscle fibres. This provides better bang for buck muscle hypertrophy and gain when used in conjunction with regular strength training.

    Return to Running Rehabilitation

Our return to running services aim to bridge the gap between traditional rehabilitation exercises performed in the gym to field-based sessions. Due to a large difference in joint and muscle force between lifting in the gym and running of the field at high speed, our return to run service aims to prepare the body for the rigours of sport. These services can be offered on a 1:1 or group basis at a conveniently located field.

We also provide a structured gait assessment for runners who are suffering from pain. You will receive a detailed report with a breakdown of your running mechanics and a plan for rehab and gait retraining.

Please contact the clinic for further information.

    Telehealth

Due to the ever-evolving landscape of Covid-19, Telehealth appointments are offered to patients who prefer this option. Many of our tests can be self-assessed with guidance from your therapist via Telehealth, ensuring that you still receive a comprehensive musculoskeletal service. These sessions are particularly ideal for progressing your rehabilitation.

    ACL Rehabilitation

ACL injury rehabilitation has improved drastically over the last several years. Despite this, we continue to see a rise in ACL injury frequency in sport. ACL ruptures are devastating injuries which often sideline athletes for 9-12 months and with re-rupture rates at 30%, provide a challenging landscape for return to play.

At P3, we have a deep understanding of ACL injury management. Driven by personal experience, Kevin has developed a passion for ACL rehab. Due to the long and arduous nature of rehab, we deliver our ACL rehab service in stages of rehab to maintain motivation and provide a safe pathway for return to play.

Each stage has clearly defined goals and exit criteria to help safely guide the rehabilitation process. We utilise Force Plate analysis and Muscle Dynamometry to ensure we are meeting testing benchmarks required to manage with the physical demands of sport on the knee.

    Hip & Groin Pain Rehabilitation

At P3, we have developed a passion for treating hip and groin pain. Kevin has been fortunate to be mentored by world-leading practitioners who have pioneered research and rehabilitation programming for hip and groin pain. With these learnings, he has developed a special interest in this region and offers services in management of hip, groin and pelvic pain.
